Surviving in Tough Times
It is mid-March 2008, and pretty much everyone knows we are heading into a less promising economic environment. Some are spouting gloom and doom.
There is nothing new about this. The last time it happened was 2000 when the Tech Bubble burst, wiping out many paper fortunes and promising companies.
As a business owner or executive, you have two ways to deal with this type of a scene:
- Hunker down, cut expenses, wait for things to improve and hope for the best.
- Improve your marketing, even increase your marketing budget and use the opportunity to E-X-P-A-N-D.
Don’t just SURVIVE.
BOOM.
The Great Depression that started in 1929 and lasted, really, through the whole of the 1930s, was a tough period, when people counted themselves lucky if they had a job, even at $10 a week. People starved, jumped out of windows. Businesses went belly up.
Yet there were people who got rich during the Great Depression.
The Chinese symbol for “Crisis” is a combination of the symbols for “Danger” and “Opportunity.”
How will YOU deal with the current situation? Focus on the dangers, or on the opportunities? That is your choice.
